Kevin Labanc Joins Shanghai Dragons to Bolster Top-6 Forward Group

The Shanghai Dragons have announced the signing of forward Kevin Labanc to a contract through the remainder of the season, adding experience, creativity, and scoring ability to their lineup.

Labanc, 29, brings extensive NHL experience to the Dragons, having played 542 NHL games over nine seasons, recording 251 points (89 goals, 162 assists). Most recently, he split the 2024-2025 season between the San Jose Sharks (2016-2024) and the Columbus Blue Jackets (2024-2025). Labanc also boasts international credentials as a 2021 World Championship bronze medalist.

GM Igor Varitsky on the signing:
“We continue to strengthen our forward corps, focusing on skill, creativity, and scoring. Labanc is a top-6 caliber winger whose NHL career speaks for itself. He’s a right-handed forward who thrives in offensive situations, generates chances, and finishes plays. He’s also effective on the power play. Multiple KHL clubs were interested, so we’re thrilled that Kevin chose to join the Shanghai Dragons.”
