Shanghai Dragons Sign Defenseman Sergei Boikov to One-Year Contract

The Shanghai Dragons have signed Russian defenseman Sergei Boikov to a one-year contract.

Boikov brings a physical, hard-nosed presence to the Dragons’ blue line. Over 265 KHL games, he has delivered 629 hits and blocked 389 shots, while also recording 33 points on nine goals and 24 assists.

The defenseman spent last season with Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod.

“Boikov has long been known as a true leader on the ice and in the locker room, someone who can bring character to a team,” said Evgeny Artyukhin, general manager of the Shanghai Dragons. “He likes to play a physical game and knows how to use his body. He is not afraid to block shots and can stand up for himself and for his teammates. We need players who battle until the end, and his experience will help us as we continue building this group.”

With the signing, Shanghai adds a battle-tested KHL defenseman whose game is built on physicality, sacrifice and leadership.
