Shanghai Dragons Sign Defenseman Brennan Menell to One-Year Contract

The Shanghai Dragons have signed defenseman Brennan Menell to a one-year contract.

Menell has spent his KHL career with Dinamo Minsk, Dynamo Moscow and SKA St. Petersburg, appearing in 290 games and recording 171 points on 29 goals and 142 assists, along with a plus-18 rating. He has also registered 175 blocked shots and 52 hits.

During the 2025–26 season, Menell played 60 games for SKA, scoring nine goals and adding nine assists.

“Adding an offensive defenseman with a strong first pass was an important need for our team – someone who can initiate the attack, move the puck effectively and create scoring opportunities for his teammates, including on the power play.

“Over his years in the KHL, Menell has proven through both his play and production that he can make an impact in those areas. His skating, vision and ability to read plays several steps ahead will strengthen the Dragons at both ends of the ice.”
