Shanghai Dragons Sign Forward Artyom Chernov to One-Year Two-Way Contract

The Shanghai Dragons have signed forward Artyom Chernov to a one-year, two-way contract.

The 29-year-old spent the majority of his professional career in the VHL, appearing in 278 games for Dynamo St. Petersburg. During that span, Chernov recorded 137 points on 54 goals and 83 assists, while posting a plus-65 rating.

At the KHL level, Chernov played 74 games for Dynamo Moscow, registering 10 points with seven goals and three assists.

“Chernov is a versatile player who can contribute equally well in both scoring and checking roles,” said Evgeny Artyukhin, general manager of the Shanghai Dragons. “He is effective in all situations, whether creating offense or playing responsible defense. He does a tremendous amount of work away from the puck, but he also has the ability to score and make plays for his teammates. Artyom stands out for his work ethic—he is a true competitor who battles for the team every night.”

Chernov will wear No. 12 for the Shanghai Dragons.

With the signing, the Dragons add a dependable two-way forward whose versatility, consistency and relentless work ethic provide valuable depth throughout the lineup.
