Nic Petan: “I Think Expectations Will Be Higher for Us This Season”
Three more members of the Shanghai Dragons arrived in St. Petersburg overnight, as forwards Nic Petan and Riley Sutter, along with forwards coach Ryan Marsh, joined the team ahead of the new season.
RYAN MARSH:
“I’m really excited to be here and to have the opportunity to work with Mitch and the rest of the staff again. I’ve already met a couple of the players during the trip, and there are some familiar faces here as well. I was in St. Petersburg ten years ago, so I’m very excited to be back.”
“I had the opportunity to work with Mitch for three years in Canada with the Saskatoon Blades in the Western Hockey League. It was a great experience. I’ve always respected the way Mitch gets his players to buy in, play hard and play the right way. His players love playing for him.”
“He’s been through a lot and gained plenty of experience since we last coached together, so I’m looking forward to working with him again and continuing to learn from him. I’m also really excited to work with Troy [Ward] and Slava [Kozlov] and the rest of the staff.”
NIC PETAN:
“It’s a great feeling to be back. I was telling my friends and family how excited I was to return. It’s been quite a while, and I’ve always loved St. Petersburg, so I’m genuinely happy to be here again.”
“I have a lot of friends who played for the club in previous seasons, so I’ve been asking questions and learning about their experiences. At the same time, it’s a new situation now, and I’m excited about the opportunity. The team has made some great signings, and I’m looking forward to meeting everyone and getting to work.”
“I think the expectations are higher this season, and I’m looking forward to doing whatever I can to help the team.”
“I haven’t had too many conversations yet, apart from speaking with a few guys I already know. Dmitrij Jaskin and I played together at Ak Bars, for example. I’m looking forward to talking with everyone, getting settled in and understanding exactly what the coaching staff wants from me and how I can best help the team.”
