Austin Wagner Signs One-Year Deal with Shanghai Dragons

The Shanghai Dragons have announced the signing of 28-year-old Canadian winger Austin Wagner to a one-year contract, adding speed, skill, and versatility to the Dragons’ forward corps.

Wagner brings a wealth of experience from North America and Europe. Over 178 NHL games, he recorded 42 points (23 goals, 19 assists), while in the 2024-2025 season he played for the Chicago Wolves (AHL), tallying 18 points (9+9). He also spent time in the SHL with IK Oskarshamn (2023-2024), posting 17 points in 41 games. In total, Wagner has played 209 AHL games with 74 points and represented NHL clubs including the Los Angeles Kings (2018-2021) and the Chicago Blackhawks (2023).

GM Igor Varitsky commented on the signing:

“We are looking to strengthen our forward group and bring additional speed and scoring touch. Austin Wagner is a powerful, fast winger who contributes both offensively and defensively, including on the penalty kill. With his experience in the NHL and Europe, he should adapt quickly to the KHL game”.

Wagner will wear #91 for the Dragons.
