Shut Out in Yaroslavl: Lokomotiv Hands Dragons a 2–0 Loss
The Shanghai Dragons couldn’t solve goaltender Daniil Isaev on their lone road game in Yaroslavl, falling 2-0 to Lokomotiv Yaroslavl on Friday night.
Shanghai welcomed back Vladimir Kuznetsov and Alexander Burmistrov to the lineup, while Kirill Rasskazov and Pavel Akolzin were scratched. Patrik Rybar started in goal before exiting early with an injury, forcing Andrei Kareev into action.
Two mistakes, two goals
The opening minutes were measured and cautious from both sides, with neither team eager to trade risks. Lokomotiv’s first real push came during Kevin Labanc’s penalty, and a net-front scramble late in the power play left Rybar down on the ice. Unable to continue, he was replaced by Kareyev, who settled in quickly.
But late in the period, two turnovers at the offensive blue line proved costly. Lokomotiv struck twice in a span of less than three minutes, as Alexander Volkov and Artur Kayumov converted rush chances to give the hosts a 2–0 lead after 20 minutes.

A patient wall
Lokomotiv spent much of the second period content to defend its advantage, inviting Shanghai into the zone and looking to counter. The Dragons tried to generate offense through puck movement and point shots, but the home side’s structure held firm. Even back-to-back power plays for Shanghai produced little, as lanes were sealed and rebounds cleared.

No breakthrough
The third period followed a similar script. Lokomotiv remained disciplined, Isaev handled everything from distance, and second chances were hard to come by. With time running out, Shanghai pressed harder and pulled the goalie in the final minute, creating a couple of looks, but Isaev stood tall to complete the shutout.
Shanghai returns home to face Spartak on January 20.
