Shanghai Dragons Sign Riley Sutter to Two-Year Contract

The Shanghai Dragons have signed forward Riley Sutter to a two-year contract after the player previously accepted the club’s qualifying offer.

Sutter played 52 games in his first season with the Dragons, recording 21 points on seven goals and 14 assists. He also ranked second on the team in hits, establishing himself as one of Shanghai’s most reliable and physical forwards.

“We are pleased that Riley Sutter is staying with the Shanghai Dragons,” said Evgeny Artyukhin, general manager of the club. “In his first KHL season, he fit into the team very well. He was a key player on special teams, was excellent in the faceoff circle and was never afraid to play a physical game. There was serious interest in this forward from other KHL clubs this summer. Our head coach knows him very well, as Riley played for Mitch Love both in junior hockey and in the Washington Capitals system. We are confident that his playoff experience will help the team over the next two seasons.”

With the signing, Shanghai keeps a hard-working, battle-tested forward who brings size, faceoff ability, special-teams value and a physical edge to the lineup.
