Shanghai Dragons Unveil New Club Logo
The Shanghai Dragons have unveiled their new club logo, marking the next step in the evolution of the team’s visual identity and bringing together several elements connected to the club, Shanghai and contemporary Chinese culture.
At the heart of the new emblem remains the dragon — the defining symbol of the franchise throughout its history. The new design maintains a clear connection to previous Dragons identities while creating a stronger, more distinctive and versatile mark.
The logo represents the latest stage in the club’s visual evolution. In 2025, the Shanghai Dragons introduced a significantly streamlined identity compared with the original 2016 crest, placing the dragon itself at the center of the design. The 2026 version takes that concept further, giving it a bolder and more complete expression.

Dragon. Shanghai. Yin and Yang
Three core elements come together within a single mark.
The silhouette of the dragon forms the letter “S” — representing Shanghai, the city at the heart of the club’s identity.
The overall composition also draws inspiration from yin and yang, one of the most recognizable symbols of Chinese culture and an enduring representation of balance, unity and opposing forces existing as part of a whole.
That combination reflects the character of modern China — a place where centuries of culture exist alongside cutting-edge technology, and where historical heritage continues to evolve alongside rapid innovation.
The connection between past and future became one of the central ideas behind the Dragons’ new visual identity. Rather than directly reproducing traditional Chinese imagery, the emblem takes familiar cultural codes and reinterprets them through a contemporary graphic language.
A Dragon of Our Own
The result is a mark designed to feel bold, powerful and dynamic.
It carries the energy expected of a professional sports identity while remaining distinctive enough to be recognized by its silhouette alone.
For a club built around the dragon as its defining symbol, the objective was never simply to use another familiar interpretation of the mythical creature. The goal was to create our own dragon — unique to the Shanghai Dragons, with its own character and a visual identity unlike other marks in professional sports.
Its carefully balanced geometry also gives the emblem the flexibility required of a modern sports brand. The logo is designed to remain clear and recognizable at every scale and across every platform — from jerseys and equipment to digital communications, media content and club merchandise.
The new Shanghai Dragons emblem brings together three defining images — the Dragon, Shanghai and yin and yang — in one unified symbol.
It maintains a connection to the club’s history while establishing a modern, cohesive and instantly recognizable identity for the Shanghai Dragons moving forward.
