Shanghai Dragons Acquire Two-time Gagarin Cup Champion Takhir Mingachyov
The Shanghai Dragons have acquired 25-year-old forward Takhir Mingachyov in a trade with CSKA Moscow. Mingachyov has signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Dragons, while CSKA receives monetary compensation in the deal.
A two-time Gagarin Cup champion, Mingachyov has appeared in 291 KHL games, recording 52 points (26 goals, 26 assists) with a plus-10 rating.
Last season, the forward played 63 games for CSKA, finishing with 12 points (6 goals, 6 assists).
Evgeny Artyukhin, General Manager of the Shanghai Dragons:
“Mingachyov is an experienced forward and a two-time Gagarin Cup champion, so he can bring more than just skill to our team. He knows what it takes to win and can set an example with his approach and professionalism.
“Takhir plays with energy in all three zones and consistently puts pressure on the opposition. He isn’t afraid to go to the net, battle for rebounds and get his stick on pucks in traffic. Defensively, he plays aggressively and is always willing to get in the shooting lane and block shots.
“He brings the kind of competitive mentality and commitment we want to see throughout our lineup.”
