Gerard Gallant Steps Down as Head Coach of the Shanghai Dragons

Following consultations with the team’s medical staff and club management, Shanghai Dragons Head Coach Gerard Gallant has made the decision to step away from his position in order to fully focus on his health and overall well-being.

At this time, Mr. Gallant’s condition has shown improvement. The organization respectfully asks members of the media to honor the Gallant family’s privacy and refrain from seeking further comment.

“Unfortunately, over the past several weeks my health has not allowed me to perform my duties at the level this position demands,” Gallant said in a statement released by the club. “Under these circumstances, I felt it was the right decision to step aside. After discussions with management, we mutually agreed to part ways on good terms. I truly believe the team will come through this period stronger.”

Mike Kelly will serve as Acting Head Coach of the Shanghai Dragons.
